The Court of Appeal sat in Singapore from

the 21st. of June to the 1st. July, and from the 6th. December to the 17th. December the total number of appeals dealt with

being 42 and a Full Court of three Judges of which the Chief Justice was one, sat for two days. The Judges were absent from the Settlement for the Court of Appeal at Penang from the 22nd.

February to the 3rd. March and from the 14th. August to 9th.

The Chief Justice sat in the Civil Court

145 and 48 days in Assizes and Mr. Justice Sercombe Smith sat

200 days in the Civil Court and 9 days in Assizes.

The number of persons tried at the Assizes

were 103 of whom 81 were convicbad. Right persons were tried for

murder of whom one was convicted, six were acquitted and the

other found insane and ordered to be kept in custody pending

the order of His Excellency the Governor.
